Ryan Miller is a showrunner, executive producer, writer, and director of non-fiction content for a variety of clients, including Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, VICE, CNN, PBS, NatGeo, Discovery, History, Animal Planet, and A&E.
Most recently, Ryan was showrunner and executive producer on the NETFLIX series, Crime Scene, a co-production between RadicalMedia and Imagine Documentaries, helmed by Emmy Award-winning and Academy Award-nominated director, Joe Berlinger.
Prior showrunning projects include CNN's Death Row Stories, executive produced by Robert Redford and Alex Gibney, the EMMY NOMINATED Chasing Life with Sanjay Gupta, a six-episode series that filmed in Bolivia, Japan, Turkey, Italy, India, and Norway, and DISCOVERY’s Colombia-based series, Finding Escobar’s Millions. Recent directing work includes an episode of HULU’s Taste the Nation with Padma Lakshmi, more than twenty segments for AMAZON's The New Yorker Presents, three episodes of CNN's Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown, and the NETFLIX series, Cooked, based on the work of acclaimed journalist, Michael Pollan.
Once setting foot on all seven continents in a year, Ryan will go anywhere in search of the most compelling characters and stories. Past highlights include: filming penguin and seal colonies and working with NASA scientists on the ice sheets of Antarctica, searching for giant anacondas in the biodiverse wetlands of Venezuela, dodging hippos in Botswana's Okavango Delta, investigating the origins of bread in Morocco, following Russian workers through the bowels of Siberia's largest mines, and giving voice to the victims of Mexico's narco-violence.
Here at home, where the work is no less engaging, Ryan produced a FRONTLINE investigation on the Obama and Romney campaigns' use of big data, a comedy series about statistics (seriously), and directed a limited series on Cosa Nostra's violent rise and fall in New York City.
With more than 15 years of experience, Ryan is a seasoned team leader and collaborator who thrives on working with a wide range of production companies and clients while also staying hands-on with day-to-day production responsibilities and looking out for the wellbeing of his team.
